Welcome to the best Junior sport in Rockhampton!
Year Round Competition
Unlike a lot of sports in Rocky, Basketball is year round with a Winter Season running from April-September, and a Summer Season running from October-March.
Our Next Season
Our next season kicks off on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th July. This will be a 9 week season with 1 week of finals.
Key Dates for Winter 2020
Thursday 16th and Friday 17th July 2020 – Round 1
Thursday 17th and Friday 18th September 2020 – Finals Round
Teams will play off based on final ladder rankings after round 9. 1st ranked team will play off against the 2nd ranked team, 3rd ranked team will play 4th ranked team and so on. Should there be an odd number of teams in the competition, then the bottom 2 ranked teams will play off with the winning team playing the 3rd lowest ranked team, the losing team will finish in last position.
Eg, in a 5 team competition, 4th ranked team will play the 5th ranked team. The winner will then play off against the 3rd ranked team. The losing team will finish 5th on the ladder.
Basketball cut-off dates are a little strange. The official line is; a player cannot turn an age by Dec 31st of the year in which that competition is played in.
To make it simple you can find the corresponding ‘year of birth’ options for each of our junior age groups below.
U10 – 2011, 2012, 2013
U12 – 2009 & 2010
U14 – 2007 & 2008
U16 – 2005 & 2006
U18 – 2003 & 2004 (Boys)
U20 – 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2004 (Girls)
Please see below form on the changes for U20 girls registrations how to register.
Any exemptions to cut-off dates, must be submitted and approved by clubs to Rockhampton Basketball before the start of the season.
What does Basketball Cost?
Winter 2020 will be a reduced season due to Covid 19 restrictions. Winter registration rates are…
U10’s: $110 RBI Fee + $20 Club Fee + *$32.89 BQ Fee
U12-U20’s: $110 RBI Fee + $20 Club Fee + *$65.77 BQ Fee
*BQ Fee is purchased once every 12 months, meaning Basketball is cheaper in your second season.
Club Fee: $20.00 . This helps supports your club (in conjunction with a lot of fundraising and sponsorship) in contributing towards uniforms, equipment, training costs, and end of season break-ups.
What Do I Need To Play?
Your club will provide you with a singlet for games. All you need is sports shoes and plain black (pocketless) shorts. Alternatively, we highly recommend getting into the club spirit and purchasing a pair of club shorts. These are generally priced at around $35.00 to $40.00 which makes it a no brainer.
Which Club Should I Play For?
For contact details for our 5 member clubsm please see flyer below. But if you’re unsure, simply ring the RBI Development staff on 07 4922 5544 and we’ll help you find the best fit.
What Nights Do We Train?
This will depend on the club and the age group. It is best to find a club first and then determine when and where they have their training.

We Are A Volunteer Run Organization And We Expect You To Be Involved In Our Community!
Rockhampton Basketball is extremely fortunate to have friendly helpful full-time staff, but the truth is, we are a volunteer run organization. The reason we can keep fees half of what they are in Brisbane and Northern Associations is because we have an amazing Volunteer culture. If you want this to stay the same, we need your help. Clubs are always on the lookout for new enthusiastic volunteers, and as the saying goes, many hands make light work.
Basketball is not a drop and run sport. Parents are expected to assist on the score bench on a rotational roster, or to help out with coaching and managing duties. Have a chat with your club today in regard to these roles, and how you can assist.
We hope that doesn’t sound daunting, but the good news is you’ll be welcomed with open arms in our Basketball community, and years later when your child looks back on their Basketball experience, celebrating the fantastic new friends and memories they’ve made along the way, you’ll look back with the same.
